Nora browser with Google Cast for Android
Nora is the free browser built into Netyvo for Android phones and tablets. Browse websites inside the app and cast supported video content from Nora to a compatible TV using Google Cast.
How does video casting work?
Open a page with video in Nora. The browser inspects active media and can send supported streams to compatible Chromecast or Android TV receivers on the same Wi-Fi network. Availability depends on the video source and format.
What can Nora do?
- Browse websites without leaving the Netyvo Android app.
- Detect active video on supported web pages.
- Cast to compatible Chromecast and Android TV receivers.
- Handle selected YouTube video streams and web media.
- Optionally encrypt stored browser data with AES-256-GCM in Premium.
Phones, tablets and Android TV
The Nora browser is designed for phones and tablets. Nora itself is not available in Android TV mode, even though a compatible Android TV device may receive media sent using Google Cast.
What are the casting limitations?
Not every video or website supports direct casting. DRM restrictions, unsupported formats and some YouTube streams can prevent playback. Netyvo does not promise that every website will cast to your TV.
Is Nora free?
Yes. Nora is included in the Free version on supported phones and tablets. Optional encryption of stored Nora browser data requires Premium.
How to cast video from Nora to Chromecast or Android TV
This guide explains Google Cast in the built-in Nora browser on Android phones and tablets. You need a compatible Google Cast receiver reachable on the same local network. This is media casting, not whole-screen mirroring.
- Open Nora in Netyvo on your Android phone or tablet. Connect the phone and Chromecast/TV to the same Wi-Fi or reachable local network.
- Open a page with a video and select or start the content you want to watch. Not every website exposes a stream that can be cast.
- Tap the Cast icon in Nora's bottom toolbar. The “Google Cast” dialog searches for compatible receivers.
- Choose your Chromecast or Google Cast-compatible TV. After the connection is established, Nora attempts to detect and start a supported media stream on the receiver.
- If the TV is connected but no video starts, play the video on the page in Nora, tap Cast again and try ▶ in the playback dialog. This cannot make every video castable.
YouTube: direct Cast or the official YouTube app
For recognized YouTube content, Nora may use a compatible direct stream or a YouTube Cast session. Where a video cannot be transferred directly, such as content with authorization restrictions, the app may offer to open it in the official YouTube app instead.
- Open a YouTube video in Nora, tap Cast and select a compatible receiver.
- If Nora offers to open the video in YouTube, follow that option and use the official YouTube app's Cast button.
- Some videos, live streams or DRM-protected content may fail. Nora does not bypass DRM, logins or platform authorization.
How to control playback on your TV
- While connected to a receiver, tap the Cast icon again to open Nora's playback controls.
- Use ▶/⏸ to play or pause, the progress slider to seek through on-demand media, and ⏮/⏭ to change queue items when supported. Available controls depend on the media session.
- Use ■ to stop remote playback, or “Disconnect CAST” to end the Cast connection.
No Cast devices or video will not play?
Check that your receiver supports Google Cast, is powered on and is discoverable on the same network. If it appears but your video fails, try a different publicly accessible, non-DRM video. Streams requiring cookies, authentication or unsupported codecs may not work. Nora casts supported media, not an arbitrary browser tab or the entire phone screen.
Nora's biometric lock and remote playback
If Nora's biometric lock is enabled, a security notice may appear before the first Cast. A TV can keep playing after the phone locks, and its remote or other devices on the same local network may still control playback. Locking Nora on the phone does not automatically lock the TV.
Nora's Cast interface currently uses Polish text for Polish device language and English for other device languages. Labels may differ slightly between app versions.
How do you cast an Android video to Chromecast or Android TV?
Open a supported web video in Nora, tap Cast and choose a Google Cast-compatible receiver on your local network. This sends compatible video, not your entire phone screen; DRM and media compatibility may restrict playback.
